    Consulting Services

    The Hudson Center’s consulting services focus on our clients’ most critical information technology challenges, and on opportunities for improvement. We bring deep, functional expertise and are known for our holistic perspective. Our knowledge of government health care and human services programs and the managed care industry allows us to add value to all facets of our clients’ organizations.

    Consulting Services Efforts by the Hudson Center

    • Non-emergent medical transportation provider. The Hudson Center worked with a medical transportation provider to address perceived claim reimbursement discrepancies with a specific payer. Leveraging our expertise in claims and EDI, we developed a process to import and analyze all 837 claim billing files, along with the corresponding TA1, 999, 277CA and 835 response files from the payer. By aggregating the claims and responses, we identified over $500,000 owed to the provider. Using data analysis, we helped the provider identify and correct billing errors causing rejections and identified cases where the payer was incorrectly denying claims. As a result, the provider was able to recoup nearly the entire $500,000.
    • Health Plan Stop Loss Reimbursement. The Hudson Center assisted a NY health plan in improving the acceptance rate of stop-loss reimbursements with NYSDOH. The process for billing stop-loss claims is complex and involves submitting 837I EDI files to both NYSDOH and the NYS OSDS system (which feeds into the All-Payer Database – APD). We analyzed the health plan’s current stop loss claim submissions, and provided recommendations based on our prior experience with the NYSDOH claims submission process. Our consultation enabled the health plan to recover over $21 million.
    • HR Consulting. The Hudson Center worked with a local community health center in assessing and documenting the current workflow for payroll, recruiting, onboarding, and other HR processes to identify improvements and streamline operations. Additionally, the project included analyzing hiring and termination workflows and identifying unused system modules.
    • Finance Consulting. The Hudson Center worked with a local community health center in assessing and documenting the finance department’s workflow, covering functions like accounting, revenue cycle management, payroll, procurement, and expense management. This involved collaboration with Finance, IT, and HR staff responsible for related processes.
    • Intranet Redesign. The Hudson Center worked with one of our clients to redesign their intranet from the ground up. We interviewed both client staff and several intranet vendors to find the right fit for the clients’ needs. A proof of concept was presented to the client for two intranet vendors, allowing the client to see firsthand how their new intranet could look and feel.
